Molecule

is the smallest particle in a chemical element or compound that has the chemical properties of that element or compound. Molecules are made up of atoms that are held together in chemical bond. Molecules vary greatly in size and complexity. Some molecules consist of 1 atom (eg, the element helium), some, notably proteins, of hundreds or even of thousands. Molecules are always in motion. Molecules made up of two or more elements are called compounds.
